About the So-Called “Male Loneliness Epidemic”

I do not think that men who value women and treat women well have ever heard of this so-called male loneliness epidemic.

How Men Who Respect Women Can Show It Every Day

Honor Their Autonomy and Voice: Allow women to speak for themselves, and actively listen to their perspectives without interruption. Value their voices as a form of knowledge and wisdom that deserves to be heard.

Embrace Emotional Vulnerability: Let women know that they don’t have to carry emotional burdens alone. Sharing your own emotional vulnerability shows that you see them as equals, and not just as caregivers or emotional laborers.

Respect Their Choices: Whether in career, motherhood, or lifestyle, show respect for the choices women make. Acknowledge that their decisions are valid, and don’t try to impose your own views of what’s “best” for them.

Challenge Misogyny and Sexism: Actively challenge harmful behaviors, language, and attitudes towards women. When you see sexism or injustice, speak up, whether in public or private spaces.

Support Their Economic Empowerment: Help create opportunities for women to thrive financially, whether through advocating for equal pay, sharing resources, or supporting women-owned businesses. Economic independence is crucial for empowerment.

Demonstrate Mutual Care and Support: Practice mutual care—whether it’s emotional, physical, or mental. Encourage women in your life to prioritize their health and well-being, and offer support without expecting anything in return.

Celebrate Their Excellence: Acknowledge and uplift the accomplishments and brilliance of women in your life, whose achievements are often underappreciated. Celebrate their work, intellect, and talents publicly.

Provide Space for Self-Expression: Create spaces where women feel free to express themselves authentically without fear of judgment. Allow them to be multifaceted individuals with their own desires, dreams, and quirks.

Be Accountable for Harm: Recognize and take responsibility when harm is done—whether through words, actions, or inaction. Apologize, learn from it, and ensure that you’re actively working to be better in how you treat women.

Valuing women isn’t a one-time act; it’s a continuous commitment to growth, respect, and standing in solidarity with the unique struggles and joys of womanhood.
