We don’t talk about women who became disabled due to violence enough. I was an advocate for a woman who survived being thrown out onto the highway by her abusive bf.
She was completely paralyzed because of his callous actions.
Her boyfriend was her rapist, terrorizer, & imprisoner for years.
She taught me lessons about life & advocacy.
I support women with disabilities raising awareness about their need & right to require an assistant to be female. After that experience, Ms Ross could *never* feel safe having a male carer wash & groom her.
The thought alone terrified her. She deserved better.
All women do.
