People with lesser knowledge or those who have not spent time examining human predatory behavior, will frequently accuse Survivors of “projecting”.

Projecting is a psychological term that  most people tossing it around can’t truly define without assistance from Google, but that isn’t the point.

People don’t know “why” you seem so sure of what you know. They are uncomfortable with it. They attack it.  Hard enough to silence your voice. Or so they hope.

Survivors who have gone through a certain portion of the healing process often become detectives in our own lives. How did this happen?
Why me?
What did I miss?
Was this my fault?
What is wrong with me?

Through this pursuit of truth, you realize that predators are not as smart as we give them credit for.

People who are not predators can’t imagine human beings being so cruel to one another.  So, go through cycles of offering people with unworthy character traits the benefit of the doubt over and over and over again.

Surely, we were not wrong to believe this person….right?

It HAS to be these people coming forward with a different story to tell.

We would rather believe that other people are telling lies than that we were wrong.
Ego. Pride.
Stubborn things.

Even when people tell us to our faces what they did, how they did it, and how they got away with it…….people still hold onto the myths and lies.

Listen to victims. Listen to Survivors. AND, listen to predators.
Believe them.

“When people tell you who they are, believe them the first time.”

-Maya Angelou

I once heard Maya Angelou add:  “They know themselves best.” Far better than you.

“I looked for girls that did not have a good relationship with their father. I learned to spot that. I looked for girls that were insecure.”

“The very thing, ladies, that the world tells you to give a man before marriage so that you can keep him, is the very thing that will cause you to lose him.”

Note: Even as a woman or in this case, girl, is being targeted and preyed upon…..it is still her fault.
