Reminder:  Males who are released from prison may still pose a danger to women and girls. Collectively we must demand that society do more to keep women and girls safe.

Sometimes there is pressure placed upon young women in various communities to share their love with males who have been newly released from prison. Second chances are a great thing.

Still, it is crucial to feel assured that the person you are spending your time with and sharing an intimate space with is reliable and will not pose a threat to your well-being- even in times of stress or anger.

That is a much higher threshold than being trustworthy enough to hold a job.

People deserve a second chance, BUT they do not always deserve a second chance at intimate love until they have proven safe and trustworthy. When a woman decides to enter a relationship with a person who has been convicted of a violent crime against another woman, a crime where a weapon was used, or any crime involving violence, one must exercise extreme caution.

May all communities support women in only connecting and staying with safe and loving partners who can help them realize their goals and become their very best.

Our sincere condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of these young ladies.
