When megastar Megan Thee Stallion was granted a protective order against fellow rapper Daystar Peterson (Tory Lanez) who is incarcerated for assaulting her, people pretended to be “confused”.

“He’s in jail. What is she afraid of?”
Stop it.

Unless they are extremely young or intellectually delayed I doubt they are confused.  “Witness protection”  as everyday Americans call it, is understood to be a necessity because there has always been heightened danger for people who worked within the criminal justice system to obtain justice for violent crimes.

Add to that, scarcely a corner of the music world that has not been touched by violence.  People have shared their tales and told their stories across every media format imaginable.

So at this point, no one with a pulse can plead ignorance of how violent campaigns play out in music and other entertainment-especially violence against women and children.
