Love Doesn’t Mean Lying: I Can Respect You and Still Speak the Truth

If you think I have to choose between truth and respect,
You underestimate the power of both.

See, real love doesn’t demand silence.
Real respect doesn’t require that I lie.
If I can’t tell you the truth without you feeling disrespected—
That doesn’t mean I was unkind.
It might just mean you’ve mistaken comfort for care.

Let me say this plainly:

If you think I can’t have respect for you and still speak the truth, then you underestimate the power of love and respect. Nevertheless, I will speak the truth.

I will not contort my soul into silence for the sake of anyone’s comfort.
I will not lie to protect your image while my spirit is screaming inside.

I have loved people and still had to say the hard thing. (And had it said to me, too. In love.)
I have respected people and still had to hold them accountable.
And I have told the truth—even when my voice trembled, even when my hands shook, even when it cost me everything.

Because love without truth?
That’s not love.
That’s performance.

Respect without honesty?
That’s not respect.
That’s appeasement.

🌿 I Speak the Truth Because I Love You

Not because I want to hurt.
Not because I want to shame.
But because truth is sacred. And every time I speak it, I’m trying to build something real.

Truth is the foundation of justice.
Truth is the beginning of healing.
Truth is how we reclaim ourselves when the world has tried to distort us.

So if you want soft lies,
you’ll have to look elsewhere.

But if you’re ready for love that’s deep, respectful, grown, and true—
you can sit beside me.
You can walk with me.
You can rise with me.

Because I still love you.
And I will still tell the truth.
