They don’t always leave when you’re breaking.
Sometimes they leave when you start putting yourself back together.
Healing has a way of revealing who was there for you—
and who was only there for your silence.
🚪 Who Leaves?
The ones who liked you better when you said yes to everything, even at your own expense.
The ones who felt empowered when you felt small.
The ones who called it love but only stayed as long as you didn’t ask for more.
The ones who bonded with you through pain—and couldn’t handle your joy.
The ones who expected access to you no matter how much it cost you.
Sometimes they leave because healing disrupts the dynamic.
You’re no longer performing peace.
You’re no longer twisting yourself to keep others comfortable.
You’re no longer abandoning yourself to be accepted.
And that changes everything.
🧠 Healing Doesn’t Just Transform You—It Exposes the Terms Others Had for Loving You
Were they really supporting you—or were they tolerating you?
Were they really loving you—or were they using your wounds as leverage?
Were they really close—or did they just benefit from your disconnection from self?
When you return to yourself, you also return to truth.
And not everyone can stand in the light of that.
🕯️ Let Them Go, Gently or Loudly
Let them leave.
Mourn them if you need to.
But don’t chase them.
If your healing made them go, they were never holding your future.
Only your silence.
🌿 Affirmations for Survivors Watching People Walk Away:
🟣 My healing is not a betrayal.
🟣 I am not losing people—I am learning who was real.
🟣 I do not have to stay small to keep others near.
🟣 Whoever leaves during my healing was never equipped to stay for my thriving.
🟣 I release relationships that cannot hold the truth of who I am becoming.
Share if you feel safe and ready—your voice might be the lifeline someone else needs.
And if you do share, remember to cite the messenger. Words carry legacy.
