10 Sacred Truths for Black Women Who Are Tired of Carrying the World

Let’s begin here:
You are not required to play a role in someone else’s story just because they’ve written you into it.
Not as the forgiving one.
Not as the supportive and understanding woman to harmful males.
Not as the long-suffering partner, the silent daughter, the peacekeeper, the healer, the example, the redemption arc.

You can be whoever you want.
But none of us are obligated to perform for anyone else’s comfort.
You do not have to memorize a script you never auditioned for.

And more importantly:
You do not have to pressure other women and girls into playing those roles either.

🛑 You get to define your own life.
You have the right to choose what your healing looks like.

You have the right to access support systems if they serve you.

You have the right to walk away from them if they don’t.

You have the right to build a safety plan that fits your life—not the one people want to imagine for you.

You do not owe anyone your obedience.
You do not owe anyone your story.
You do not owe anyone the performance of healing that they can applaud from a safe distance.

🌿 Because healing is not one-size-fits-all.
It never was.
And it never will be.

🌀 Survivor Affirmation :
“I am not a role.
I am not your lesson.
I am not your example.
I am a living, breathing woman—
And I write this story in the ink of my own choosing.”

📣 Let this be the call:
Honor Survivors’ wisdom.
Even when it doesn’t look like the version of “bravery” you imagined.
Even when it disrupts your comfort.
Even when it challenges your politics, your ideology, your opinions, your programming, your timeline.

What would it look like to truly support the choices of women—
especially when they challenge our comfort?

Let’s start there.
And let’s mean it.
