Catfishing isn’t just a little lie or a “lonely person trying to connect.” It’s deception wrapped in manipulation.

People build entire false identities—photos, names, stories—just to gain access to your emotions, your trust, sometimes your money, and often your body or safety.

And when the truth finally unravels, it can leave deep scars:

  • Betrayal trauma

  • Public embarrassment

  • Shattered self-trust

  • Fear of connection

Some Survivors of catfishing never speak on it because they feel foolish or ashamed. But they’re not to blame. Deceivers are deliberate. They study, they watch, they exploit vulnerability.

Let’s say this clearly:
Catfishing is abuse of trust. It is a form of emotional manipulation. It is not a game.

🛑 If someone is pretending to be someone else to gain closeness with you—they are not harmless.
They are harming.

You deserve real connection. Real honesty. Real Safety. Real love.
