Men should absolutely be made more aware of what happens to a woman’s body postpartum. Birth is not the end of the journey—it is the beginning of deep healing, physical change, and emotional adjustment.
Societies must continue to encourage men to show up as partners, protectors, and nurturers in this season. Supporting a woman after childbirth is not charity—it is love in action, shared responsibility, and the foundation of a healthier mom and baby. Take all the time to you need to heal.
@we.have.kids.nowTo the women and pregnant mamas out there, do you think there men need to be more knowledgeable and understanding about the pregnant/postpartum body? Let us know your thoughts! 💭From our POV, there really is an urgent need for more men to understand women’s health and what their partners experience during pregnancy and postpartum. When the placenta detaches, it leaves a uterine surface about the size of a dinner plate that must fully heal.To grow a baby, the body draws calcium from the mother’s bones, and during recovery she works to rebuild those stores while often breastfeeding (itself of course super calcium-intensive!).Blood volume and cardiac output rise nearly 50 percent in pregnancy and must normalize again after birth, placing added stress on the heart and circulation. Postpartum bleeding, called lochia, can last up to six weeks and can worsen if she overexerts too soon.
Understanding these changes helps protect recovery and ensures early recognition of complications.
