Letās speak truthābecause Survivors on healthy authentic healing journeys know this better than anyone:
You cannot build healthy relationships with people or groups who do not respect boundaries.
It doesnāt matter how long youāve known them.
It doesnāt matter if they say they love you.
It doesnāt matter if theyāre āfamily,ā part of a healing circle, or standing at a pulpit.
š If they ignore your no, they cannot nurture your yes.
š If they ignore your no, they cannot nurture your yes.
Hereās why:
Boundaries are not barriers.
They are the sacred lines that allow trust to grow. Without them, love becomes manipulation, care becomes control, and āclosenessā becomes a trap.People who disregard boundaries are not building with you.
They are building on top of you. Theyāre using your silence, exhaustion, or fear as raw materials to shape a world where only they feel safe.Groups that normalize boundary-crossing are not communities.
They are cults of controlāwhere belonging is conditional, your needs are inconvenient, and silence is the price of acceptance.
š© Healthy doesnāt mean conflict-freeāit means respect-filled.
It means:
š± You can say no without punishment.
š± You can change your mind without shame.
š± You can walk away without fear of being smeared, stalked, or spiritually blackmailed.
š¬ So if you’re asking:
āWhy do I feel drained every time I talk to them?ā
āWhy do I have to keep explaining the same basic things?ā
āWhy do I feel unsafe even though they say they love me?ā
You already know the answer.
š š¾āāļø Relationships without respect for boundaries are not relationships.
They are rehearsals for harm.
At We Survive Abuse, we donāt just surviveāwe reclaim.
We rebuild.
We return to our rightful selves.
And we start by drawing the line and meaning it.
š¤ You donāt have to explain it.
š¤ You donāt have to justify it.
š¤ You just have to honor it.
Your boundaries are sacred. Treat them that way. And expect others to do the same.
“You will not silence me, and you will not build your comfort on my back.ā
